Indian Army
Indian Military Academy (IMA) or Officers Training Academy (OTA) Entry:
- Aspiring candidates can apply for the Combined Defense Services Examination (CDSE) conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for IMA or OTA entries.
- After successfully clearing the examination, candidates go through a selection process including an interview conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB).
National Defense Academy (NDA) Entry:
- The NDA is a joint services academy where candidates can join after completing their 10+2 education.
- The UPSC conducts the NDA examination, and successful candidates undergo a training program before joining the Indian Army.
Technical Entry Scheme (TES):
- This entry scheme is for candidates who have completed their 10+2 education with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) and are interested in the technical branch of the Indian Army.
- The candidates undergo a selection process and training at the Indian Military Academy.
University Entry Scheme (UES):
- UES allows pre-final year students of engineering to apply for a direct entry into the Indian Army for Permanent Commission.
- The candidates are selected through campus interviews and undergo a two-year training program.
Short Service Commission (SSC) Entry:
- SSC entry is for both men and women who wish to serve in the Indian Army for a short duration (up to 14 years, extendable up to 20 years).
- Candidates can apply for various technical and non-technical positions based on their qualifications and interests.
Judge Advocate General (JAG) Entry:
- JAG entry is for law graduates who want to join the Indian Army as legal officers.
- They go through a selection process and training at the Officers Training Academy (OTA).
Army Education Corps (AEC) Entry:
- AEC entry is for postgraduates, M.Phil, or Ph.D. holders in specific subjects to serve as education officers in the Indian Army.
- Candidates undergo selection procedures and training at the OTA.
Non-Commissioned Officers (NCO) and Junior Commissioned Officers (JCO) Entry:
- This entry is for individuals who want to join the Indian Army as soldiers (NCOs) or JCOs based on their qualifications and experience.

Post-Independence (1947):
- After India gained independence in 1947, the British Indian Army was divided between India and Pakistan.
- India's share formed the basis of the Indian Army, and the two countries' armies were separated along the newly established borders.
Indo-Pak Wars and Conflicts:
